MLC PTSA’s mission is to develop community and ensure that any opportunity available through MLC is available to any student, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and a part of the Oregon PTA. Every MLC family is invited to attend our meetings USUALLY held in the MLC library. We're experimenting with having meetings at other locations in Portland, the first will be our November meeting at Kennedy School. Childcare and snacks are provided for all meetings. How does the PTSA raise money?
The PTSA raises funds through our community (monthly contributions AND MLC Champions), wreath and poinsettia sales, t-shirts and our largest fundraiser, our annual auction. We also raise funds through these programs:
Box Tops for Kids: Drop your box tops in collections boxes outside K-3 classrooms and in the front office.
Amazon Smile: Be sure to indicate MLC PTSA as the recipient of the Smile funds.
SCRIP is a program that allows the MLC PTSA to make a percentage on the sale of gift cards for popular retail stores. Online scrip is an online fundraising that tracks your purchases for you and automatically forwards the donations to MLC PTSA. You register your credit cards and your Safeway Club Card and the rest happens automatically. Go to www.escrip.com and our group ID number is 8564732.

Where does the money go?
Because of MLC's mission of experiential learning, field trips and activities off-site are a major component of what makes MLC great. The majority of the PTSA budget goes towards scholarships to students making sure that all of the children in our community are able to participate--regardless of their family's ability to pay.
